Hey, we’ve moved again. We’re now on the jasoncmartin.com domain, so that’s where things will be posted from now on. And, on top of that, we have a new theme that looks really nice.

iPhone Development

So, I’m working on a new iPhone application called “iNewsReader”. It’s going to be an RSS reader for your iPhone, but going to be….different than NetNewsWire for iPhone.

A lot of people have been complaining about things with NetNewsWire, like the inability to add feeds on the phone, the bugs that they’re having with it, lack of organization (like, it auto sorts alphabetically for you), and slowness.

My goal is to try to fix, or better yet, not even have these problems

What’s Up?

Wow, I’ve really not posted to this in a while! Okay, so I have the domain “jasoncmartin.com”, but there’s nothing really there, just a “we’re not ready yet” message. I’ll probably put up a WordPress blog to replace this one… Again.

Other news, I’ve gotten serious about iPhone application development. You’ll like what I’ve got coming. Let’s just say that both of my projects have something to do with web technologies. That’s all I’ll say. :)

In other news, School is hard. I have chemistry first thing in the morning. But journalism is in there, and that’s a fun class. I can get away with taking pictures all class. xD But, it’s taking away from other things, like MyBB development, iPhone development, and the like. Oh well.

Couple of things

Being on the road alot with no Wi-Fi has kept me from being able to post that much. But, now that I’m in Florida, where there IS Wi-Fi (Grandparents didn’t have any, and they didn’t have neighbors that I could leach off of. >_<), so I’ll be back more often. :)

Alright, that out of the way, just really excited! Got the domain name jasoncmartin.com, so I’ll be working on that, posting my scripts (both PHP and movie), BrickFilms (once I actually make a GOOD one. >_<), music, and other stuff. Like my Pokémon Fan Fic…. Yeah, yeah, I know. Get off my back about it! I don’t care what you think about Pokémon. Shut up sir, and sit down!

The domain itself is currently active. You can go, right now, to jasoncmartin.com, but you wouldn’t see much; just a place holder for the actual site while I finish designing it (Wow, a site I designed and looks GOOD? That’s a first!) I think I’ll keep this WordPress (we just moved from Blogger, right?), and just export it or something to my site.

Okay, yeah, all I can think of right now. Thought I had something else, but guess I didn’t, so…

Rant….

Wow. Some people know just nothing about setting up a forum. I’ve seen posts about how to install MyBB. I’ve seen posts about setting up plugins, and other things. I just recently saw a post on why someone’s forum isn’t working, and how he’d like domain/forum/upload to be domain/forum. Wow. Did he NOT read the ReadMe file? So when one of the support team members comes in to tell him to move it up one folder, the guy keeps saying “….what?”.

One guy asked about uploading plugins. So, another member of the support team explains that you have to download it, and upload the plugin to inc/plugins. The guy’s like “what do you mean, inc?” Then he asks if he needs to be logged into his account to do this. >_< Wow.

Okay, maybe I’m being a little harsh, but it probably would have been better for them to get a CreateMyBB forum instead of downloading one and installing it themselves. I dunno. I just needed to rant a bit. :P

1000!

My Mod CP plugin for MyBB has reached over a thousand downloads. A Thousand! :D That’s awesome! I still have a ways to go before getting on the “most downloaded” list (the last one on the list has 3687 downloads), but 1000 is still a good start. And, just a reminder, if you haven’t downloaded the plugin for your MyBB 1.2 board, what are you waiting for? Go download it!

Spidersuck Chronicles, anyone?

I just finished watching the Spiderwick Chronicles on DVD. I had read the series of five books during the week so we could watch the movie for our Friday Movie tradition. Boy, was I really disappointed. The movie does have all the characters from the book, and all mostly in the way that you (or at least I) imagined them to be. However, the movie doesn’t have the complete plot.

It starts out the way it does in the book, with the Grace’s coming to live in the old Spiderwick Estate, after the mom and dad getting a divorce, and them moving out of New York. The movie doesn’t dawdle at all with getting into the action, cause as soon as they step in the house, Jared is tearing apart the wall, and the dumbwaiter is revealed.

All continues along normally, as Jared gets the book, and reads it. Then Mallory’s hair gets tied up, yadda, yadda, yadda. So, we come to the part where the goblins take Simon. For some reason, only Jared goes after them. Then, when they get there, there’s no griffin, and, while coming up with a plan to rescue Simon, Mulgarath comes out of nowhere. What the heck?

So, the goblins are chasing the Grace twins, when SImon starts lashing out at Jared, and tries to get him to give them the book. The goblins catch up to them, but they make it back to the house, and the goblins are stopped by some force field protection charm thing. Again, what the heck? We’re the goblins supposed to get eaten by the troll that wasn’t there?

Things don’t get better plot-wise. When they decide to visit Aunt Lucinda, they have to take a secret tunnel to get to the nut house place. Then, while in the tunnel, the goblins let loose a troll. Uh, excuse me, but wasn’t the troll supposed to be in the stream? And there’s no mention of any secret tunnel in the books at all.

After they’re done talking to Aunt Lucinda, the goblins attack, in the nut house, and steal part of the book. Because of this, the goblins and Mulgarath learn a way to get rid of the whole protection charm force field thing. So the kids decide to go talk to Arthur, cause the goblins are gone.

They call on the griffin, (finally appearing), which turns out to be Arthur’s pet (What the heck?). They fly off the see Arthur, who is held prisoner by some weird fairies that aren’t even in the book. What happened to the elves?

When they get back the house, they start fortifying themselves against the impending attack of the goblins and Mulgarath, making all sorts of defense mechanisms and stuff. When they do attack, there’s a huge battle scene at the Estate, something far from the epicness of the Prince Caspian battle.

In short, they defeat Mulgarath, sorta in the same way in the book. Jared throws the Book off the roof. Mulgarath catches it, and turns into a bird, which, of course, Hogsqueal eats. The movies ends with them bringing Lucinda to the house, and she leaves with Arthur.

Okay, TONS of things wrong with the movie. Once they get to a certain point, they deviate from the plot of the book completely, only getting little things right. What happened to the dwarves and the big Palace of Trash? Those would have been cool to see.

So, all in all, if you haven’t read the books, and you wanna see it, go ahead; there’s nothing to disappoint you. But if you have read the books, stay away from this; it’s one big disappointment after another. My rating? I’d say about a 4/10.

iBlog?

I just found out that there’s already a piece of blogging software called “iBlog”, so I’m going to have to come up with another name. Any ideas any one?

Alot of stuff…

Wow, I have quite a bit of news. First off, the Mod CP Plugin has been updated to 1.0.9. This update fixes some bugs, as well as adds a setting to enable or disable Moderator’s abilities to view IP Addresses. All users are encouraged to upgrade to the latest version. Download.

Today, I’m announcing a new Mac Application I’m making called iBlog. This software is a desktop blogging application, and will be free. I’m making this because all the free desktop blogging software don’t really have the whole Mac OS X feel, because they’re all cross platform. Keep an eye here for updates, as well as screenshots.

Hmmm, what else? Oh! Recently I was added to the MyBB development team. I sent an application a while ago, but they’ve finally added more people to the support team, as well as the development team, and I’m one of them. I’m waiting to get access to the SVN, but then I can start developing as soon as I do.

Hmmm, I think that’s about it. Yeah, I still have too many projects. >_<

Introducing NetOS, the next innovation Web Operating Systems.

NetOS is modeled after *nix based systems. It should have some of the same features as these systems, including the “all new” Verbose Mode!

Verbose Mode

I’m really excited about this, but, unfortunately, that video on Verbose Mode is all I can really show you guys. The GUI hasn’t been done yet, but, don’t worry, that’s coming! Keep an eye here for more info!
